I agree with Austin on the plug for the shift up light. The front mount question is best answered by CMyles but in my opinion I'd leave the cover on the the rebuild trannie and get a solid front mount. You'll need the hardware with that mount to bolt it to the crossmember.
The turbo trannie i.e. a 556/7 model has an extra bearing for 5th gear that nestles in the front cover. This bearing would not be present in your 446 donor trannie. If you switch covers you'd have to deal with that issue. It's just simpler to bolt on the solid mount and away you go.
