there is info on this site on how to check for timing Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Sat, 12 Apr 2008 10:17:28 In Reply to: Re: r/r transmission what else can be done, Per, Sat, 12 Apr 2008 08:40:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
chain wear, by looking at how much the tensioner has extended. i wouldn't bother replacing the chain unless it shows lot of wear, but that is just me! they really are not a problem, unlike timing belts. if you engine runs nice and quiet right now, assume it is good (but check the guides).
a couple of obvious stuff to change is the oil pump seal (the one behind the pump cover, like a large rubber band), and the front crank seal (behind the pulley-done at the same time).
have a really good look at the inner control arm mounts, especially the drivers side. is your starter slow? replace it. much easier with engine out. how is the shifter coupling? if it has been covered in oil, it will fail soon. alternator bushings, belts, cv boots and inner driver boots are good to do also.thorough check of all hoses. maybe get a rad flush.
the HG is a little easier with engine out, but not much easier! actually, i replaced mine when engine was out, but i have a handy over head hoist, so lifting the head off with exhaust manifold and inlet manifold attached made it an easier job. any questions regarding the water pump should be dealt with now. P/S leaks-this is a good time.
good luck
