check the wiring to it - there should be a ground brown wire and a green or possibly black wire - it doesn't matter which wire goes to which connector

inside is a diaphragm which closes a switch when engine is under load (eg acceleration) through the vacuum line. Check the integrity of the two wires - they should both be there, scrape off connections so they are bright, check vacuum line - if you suck on it - you can hear slight click of switch closing - a faulty switch/diaphragm or leaky vacumm would probably mean you aren't getting enrichment on acceleration.

while you are at it check integrity of associated vacuum hoses in the area and all hoses that run into throttle body - you can use proper hose clamps on the larger hoses that go to your aux air valve-
make sure the rubber grommets seal well.

while you are at it suck on hose to distributor and see if you can pull a vacuum - if not your advance can is shot

finally scotchbrite or lightly nailfile all electrical connections at all senders in engine compartment - eg temp 1 and 11 sensor, connectors at your warm up regulator etc
