I bought an 1989 with a locked clarion and no code. You have to call a Saab dealership and they will give you the code. Carter Saab in Seattle gave me my code.
Before you call you need the serial number on the clarion. You have to remove the stereo from the dash to read the serial number sticker on top. The clarions are pretty easy to remove. If you don't have the special "U" tools. Cut two 8" strips (about that long, it doesn't matter) from a coat hanger. Bend them into "U" shapes. Stick em into the holes on the face of the stereo and the stereo should pull out.
You may also need the VIN of your car handy when you call, but Carter Saab never asked for mine. Apparently old tape decks aren't hot commodities anymore :)
Ask the tech how to reset it to accept the code. I forget.
