For a cheap chance of repairing the problem, try one bottle of "Lucas" brand automatic transmission conditioner. Most of the time these transmissions just get gummed-up and the valve seals stick in the units. I've been using this product for years on every auto. fluid change I do. Some brands will just swell the seals as the chemicals in them just attack these seals. Lucas isn't the same, since it uses polymer to condition the belts and seals. It's thick red liquid and cost under ten dollars. My two auto Saab's were shifting a little rough and the Lucas just smooths them out. Your could just be worn past repair, but for less than ten buck's it's worth a try. Good Luck!
