past that enables some heat into core, the easy/cheap solution is to unhook the 2 hoses from the firewall and join them using a short bent tube, thus eliminating heater core altogether. much cheaper and quicker than valve replacement.
had to do this for a different reason myself. valve leaked a tiny bit when under alot of pressure (leaked water out), which only occured on hot days.
