The joy of the 900 key in the floor is that you must put the car in reverse to remove the key. Remote start wouldn't work well with this, as hitting the start button would result in either a burned-out starter, or a car driving merrily backwards in tight circles around the parking lot.
If you keep the remote start, you had better disable the 'lock in reverse' feature.
The reverse light for a 5 speed is a switch on the gearbox; for the automatic the switch is at the shifter. So you'll need to wire up to the gearbox switch. I don't think the alarm cares what transmission you have.
