Nick, thanks for the info. I was wondering what it would cost to send my Saabs over there. Returned April 15 after spending a month there and only recall seeing one C900 over there. It was being blessed with holy water during a drive through blessing where hundreds of cars get blessed. Quite a sight to see.

Yes, gas was over $9 per gallon, but much of that was due to the weak American dollar. There are plenty of people driving gas guzzlers over there, so I wouldn't be worried if I had to sell the car. Instead, the issue is driving the car in the city. I believe that our C900 cars would all be classified as Euro Zero, and are therefore banned from entering many cities. I don't mean just Milan and Rome. Smaller cities like Bologna have this restriction too.

Some time ago I saw a kit from Germany, I think, that is supposed to improve the emissions of our cars above Euro Zero but I don't know which Euro number it takes them up to, and I'm not sure what this buys for you. Another option for 80s cars is to convert them to natural gas and I saw several in Milan that were this way. Yet another option is to drive in the city only on weekends or whatever days it's allowed.
