Hi there,
Well, I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but OEM and aftermarket are just about the same. Many aftermarket parts are made by the OEM factories. There isn't any real differences.
People will say that they installed an aftermarket part and it failed on them. Saab dealers can also install an OEM part and have it fail on them as well. You don't see Saab dealers posting on this board, so you won't find their opinion as to what works and what doesn't. It's a one sided viewpoint. Keep that in mind.
There are some good independent shops that frequent this site and respect their opinions as they have decades of experience. They are in the know.
The factor that matters most to the new life of your car is how you drive it. If you go hog wild on it, your car (and wallet) will suffer. Drive it like you just put months of paychecks into it, and you'll be happy with the outcome.
I've never understood those who purchase cars that are more than well above for the average American income for a family of four and how they abuse them. I'm sure they carry out maintenance and they look like they are detailed well. What I mean is how they tailgate and generally put $80,000 worth of money in harms way. I doubt that they would guard their wallet if it had $80K in it.
