1979-1993 & 94 Conv [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
Hi,
I've been in the process of swapping an '89 2.0 turbo motor into a '93 900-S body. (I know should have gotten a turbo car from the get-go, but the '93 had little rust issues and a lot of new parts for cheap) Anyway, the motor has been rebuilt with new chrome rings and new tri metal bearings and totally re-sealed, ready to drop back in. Have swapped over the APC system, the oil cooler lines, instrument panel, doubled up the knock sensors and ect. ect..... I'm leaving the '93 EZK ignition system in and am going to do the advance stop mod to the turbo dizzy then wire it into the plug for the crankshaft sensor therefore using the hall sensor in the turbo dizzy. Eventually may go with a stand alone ignition system.
Now before the block gets dropped back in I want to swap out the 2.4.2 ECU wiring harness for the LH 2.4 Fuel system harness so it will get the proper fueling for the turbo. In looking at the schematics for the two systems (371-66 and 371-70 in the Bently) I find they are both very similar except for two issues. I had my electrical engineer brother look at it and he said I could even use the 2.4.2 harness with some minor changes but was a little baffled by the a/c part of the schematic.
I'll try and explain:
Differences Noted
Ignition Control:
'89 2.4 ECU pin #2 goes through connector 367 (H6-1) at pin 32 to #176- ignition control unit (non ezk ignition/ ignition amplifier (ezk ignition))
'93 2.4.2 ECU pin 32 goes right to the throttle angle transmitter (tps?), nothing goes through connector #67 (H6-1) at pin #2
What is to be done here to do the conversion?
Air Conditioning:
'89 2.4 ECU pin #14 goes through #67 (H6-2) connector at pin #4 to a/c relay #156
ECU pin #3 goes through connector #2 to #56 to a/c relay
"93 2.4.2 ECU pin #11 goes through #67 m(H6-2) connector at pin #4 to a/c relay #156
ECU pin #14 goes through #67 (H6-2) connector at pin #2 to (h33-3) 33 pin bulkhead connector- main fuse box
Again, what is to be done here to make the a/c work?
Also is there anything else I may have missed and is it even possible to switch harnesses?
Not being good in electrical jargon, laymen terms would be appreciated.
Thanks for any input and help on this.
