should use a wheel bearing grease for inner drivers. Tom Townsend, who owns a shop that services Saabs, reports good results over the years using wheel bearing grease. I've used Castrol and an Amsoil synthetic wheel bearing greases for these. The rationale is that wheel bearing grease withstands high temps where the exhaust downpipe comes near the inner driver on the passenger side of the car. The only downside I see is that it can be a bit thick for the needle bearings. The original inner driver grease is quite runny, even when new, and earlier versions of it were full of lead and quite toxic. I don't even know of a source for these original lubricants, but I wouldn't want them anyway. The runny stuff tended to ooze out of the inner drivers.
As for the gearbox, many things will work including Redline MTL, Honda MTF, or even regular 75W90 GL5 gear oil. Some say that the gear oil corrodes the syncros, but I've not seen this on VW gearboxes at least.
What you might want to avoid is any modern motor oil. The newer motor oils no longer have decent levels of a compound called ZDDP, which is important for protecting the gears. ZDDP was found to reduce the life of catalytic converters, so the level of ZDDP is now reduced.
If you do use motor oil, use what I use in one of my Saabs gearboxes - a motorcycle oil. These are designed to protect gears because most motorcycles share gearbox and engine oil. They also withstand high heat.
