But, the bent U of coathanger seems to work okay. It's a pain in the butt even with the official tools. Wiggle, finger stuck into cassette slot to tug with, etc. Get one side started out, then do the other, was good advice.
The wires need to be all the way in to trip the little catches.
This is the Catch 22: Once you get it out look at what's there and you can sort of understand better what you need to do to get it out.
