Why I started with the hot melt idea was this tip, to use it to hold the headlight switch into the panel, that I read on here.

I already had my own plan, to attach it with a screw or something through the outer rim of the switch into the "shelf" of the opening in the panel. And I wanted more anchoring than the hot melt alone. Not sure it's needed but I went ahead and will tell about it.

It looked like I could do this with a small hole right through the middle of the little lightbulb symbol at bottom center of the switch rim.

But I found by drilling a 1/16" hole in it that it just nicked the edge of the shelf there, though it looks real broad.

So I abandoned that hole and drilled two more, also 1/16", ligned up with where the bottom end of the switch falls when it's full off or full on, as close to the outside of the rim of the switch as I dared.

This made two tiny holes well into the 'shelf' as I call it.

So once I had put hot melt onto the seat and pushed the switch in, I pushed two brass brads I had in my extensive collection, thru each of those holes. to resist my own uncontrollable tendencies to twist every switch and knob loose from its anchors.

A note: If you plan to do this, I'd have felt easier daubing the hot melt if I'd had the steering wheel out of the way first. Tho I also own a mini hot melt gun that might have fitted in there easier.

Another note: Before I did this I changed the bulb inside the headlight switch. Pull switch, pull plug off back, and squeeze two black prongs in center together and pull back. A bulb will emerge.

I used pulled common warning bulbs out of a spare speedo cluster, pried prongs of bulbholder in and pushed metal parts out the back, bulb comes along. Then I nipped metal parts off bulb leads, folded leads down over the glass and they work fine to replace all burnt out bulbs among those that are on all the time you're driving.

The headlight switch bulb doesn't go back in easy, you need to be gentle and work the clips past the contacts that power it, then once started it slides home and locks in easy.
