Use your brakes, since their cheaper and easier to replace. It's always better to release the clutch into neutral than to hold the clutch pedal down for two reasons. One, is the throw-out bearing is just for momentary use and won't heat-up the factory grease in it if you don't ride the clutch and two is the crank thrush washer spacer won't have sustained lateral force on it by holding the clutch pedal in. Take your time shifting, as I've never had a Saab that had a fast shifting transmission. Better to have all the harder repairs last by using preventive operational usage.
