here are some quick and dirty basics, to get you started.

apc (automatic performace control) listens to engine for 'knock', controls boost accordingly. higher octane fuel increases boost-before-knock, so use best gas possible (#1).

mech wants to adjust actuator rod on wastegate. while there is some truth to this requirement, i don't think he knows saabs. the base boost (which is what will change if you adjust that rod)should be like 5.5 psi, around 1/3 yellow. the apc controls boost by opening and closing the apc solenoid up front, on top of the rad, 3 hoses and an electrical plug on top-disconnect plug for base boost only. you can hook a boost guage into a vac line for accurate reading of base. shorten rod on wastegate for more base boost.

i don't have much time, so i guess i will keep it simple.

if everything is is great shape (spark plugs gapped properly, NGK's, proper spark wires-bougicords, good rotor/cap, etc, and NO VACUUM LEAKS), a regular turbo with good fuel will lay over to the end of the yellow. hot days will hurt, seeing only 3/4 maybe.

if you get that far, search 'apc tweaks' for much, much more info on increasing the boost a fraction more.

remember, apc listens for knock, and limits boost accordinly. if you don't get full boost, it is for a reason. you do not want to go the easy way and add an MBC (manual boost controller), unless you like replacing engines.

use the search feature on this site, it will save many hours of typing (for me!)

good luck-use good fuel!!
