I went through similar troubles with my 89 TC. My suggestions: replace ALL vacuum hoses and grommets, no matter how they look. Check all turbo plumbing by taking it apart, putting it back together. Replace the AMM or at least put a loaner in there to see what happens.Clean and check the TB and the AIC as others have said. Each step along this path made my car run better, the AMM replacement was the last item, and now it purrs. Silicone hoses are cheap and should be done if the hoses are more than a few years old - just because one looks OK, does not mean it really is!
