swapping skins is a bit of a PITA, but not that bad. Twinsaabs have a DIY section on seat skinning that is excellent. My seats were lousy when I bought my vert, and I bought two sets of front seats in order to skin one of them and use it on the driver's side. That is probably not a good option for you (for the front seat backs) since I think you have the release mechanism (that gives access to the back seat) high on the side of seat.
Thea cheapest route is definitely just waiting it out on fleabay until the skins "pop-up" for sale (about $200). You could also consider going radical with some quality, Wet Okole seat covers in something like black and red neoprene for a totally different look (likely set you back about $450-500. Duplicate of originals all around will run you $800-850.
