My wonderful 1985 8V has been running hot. I have replaced all hoses, radiator, thermostant, the thermoswitch near the thermostat housing ..... Getting the fans off the old radiator and onto the new one was a challenge!! Now the second (driver's side) fan is inop (was running fine before I changed the radiator) and the car still heats up too much. The second (high temp) fan was working fine and the meter shows it has a complete circuit; when I jumped this fan (to the battery) it ran just fine so the fan motor is not dead... so I have to assume it is just not "getting the message" to turn on. Does the thermoswitch near the thermostat control this fan?? I replaced it - the passenger side fan comes on OK (I think a bit late) but the higher temp (driver's side fan) seems to not come on at all. Very strange. All ideas welcomed.....
