..disconnect the lead from the coil to the distributor and crank the engine over for a few seconds at a time, repeat maybe three or four times, then reconnect coil lead and finally start the engine for real.

This'll get the oil splashed around the inside of the engine without it starting up partially dry/unlubricated.

The Saab blocks are so tough that you probably don't even need to do this, assuming your oil pressure gets up where it should be after startup, you'll probably be fine. But it's a nice babying gesture.

With six kids, I'm sure you understand.
