Has anyone retrofitted an EKZ system to use a GM HEI ignition module in place of the Saab ignition amplifier? This seems to be a common modification for other makes (although none of the other makes I investigated has a system as sophisticated as the EKZ system).
Specifically I am dealing with a 1989 N/A car that uses the ignition amplifier mounted on the coil. The module is 1988 and 1989 only. Good used modules are hard come by and new modules are $300 plus.
It seems the HEI module and the Saab module is "just" an electrical switch to make and break the field on the coil.
