Yes, it is pretty much too good to be true. The unit with the connector is the specific part. The unit with pigtails is a generic unit. Both will work. They come from different sources. Why would anyone pay extra? Because the one with the connector is just plug-and-play. If you're a mechanic getting paid by the job and gets a mark-up on parts, you're going to get the one with the connector. It saves you time, and time is your money. Some folks aren't comfortable with splicing.
Trust me, a dealer will use the one with the connector and pass the (negative) savings on to you.
However, if you're DIY, you're already trading your time for savings. So yes, it's a little more work but no big deal.
I agree with Saabnutt - solder the connections and use some heat-shrink tubing (available at Radio Shack, many autoparts stores, etc.) The Hall effect sensor has very low signal levels, and you don't want anything to mess with it.
