They are different. In my humble opinion, the best wheels for a SPG is the original silver alloys.
But those heavy,16inch 9000 rims are odd, as they stick out too much and make the 900 seam puny/small. I always felt that there is not enough metal/plastic on a 900 for the 9000 rims; and on top of that, the car has to be raised a bit, throwing off that low SPG look.
87 down SPG wheels were best as the three "vaginal-like" cuts was deeper, with the old axles; and the same with the 15 spokes, for the tear drops were deeper.
But of course, it is what you prefer.
