I wonder if it is my old convertible?
The good thing is that it is a convertible, you can ignore it until you open the trunk. On my 92 sedan, what had happened was the fuel pump failed. Before it failed, it was drawing to much current from the battery. This caused small holes to be formed in the top of the plastic of the fuel pump assembly. When the tank was full, a small puddle would form on top of the pump. I'm wondering how they checked the tank for pressure holding capability. If they removed the pump, and checked, then I would suspect anything OUTSIDE of the tank. Could even be the filler assembly as they are prone to cracking.
