Spike,
If this is really happening then (apart from someone playing a trick on you) there is a crack or hole in the transaxle case AND the transmission vent is plugged up (which rarely happens on these 5 speeds) causing the pressure in the transaxle to be higher than the pressure in the engine crankcase so that the oil moves in that direction through the crack or hole. And that will not be fun to fix.
Consider this alternative explanation also: Your transaxle has an external leak, which is a very common thing, and coincidentally, your engine is washing fuel down into the crankcase due to worn or bound up piston rings (for instance) making it seem as if the engine oil level is rising. So how is your engine running and is your transaxle leaking anywhere?
The only place that oil could possibly be "exchanged" between a C900 five speed transaxle and the engine is the top of the transaxle case which is also the engine sump. There is no other common connection between the two. No gasket or seal failure ANYWHERE could cause this (unless I'm having a massive brain fart). At the top of the transaxle, where the clutch is, there is no way oil could move from the transaxle to the engine or vice-versa. Transaxle oil will leak from a bad clutch shaft seal (while running) but, even if the rear main engine seal was also shot, the trans. oil couldn't jump the entire clutch and flywheel and then be sucked into the engine past the bad main seal. Don't know if this helps but it's all I can offer. Good luck
