there are two major parts to this operation. Removing the halfshaft from the car, and doing the boot change. If you are good, and I've never been... if the inner boot is good you can just take the outer cv joint out of the knuckle/bearing and swap the boot and put it back together. As another said, getting the CV joint to unlock from the shaft is the magic. I usually give up and take the other boot off too (only downside is the little bit more time and the strap for the inner boot needs to be redone - you can order kits with the large and small straps, you will only need the large. However you can get a hose clamp that is the screw down type 7or8mm variety just like the radiator clamps, very nice to use)
sure there is a procedure somewhere, but you basically need to break the 32mm axle nut loose on the ground just like doing the lugs but *much* more force, 32mm 1/2 drive on 18 in breaker bar with 3-5 foot extension to make it loose and tighten again later. You need to block the upper A arm up because you will be taking a Ball joint out, basically you can use many different things to block the A arm from hitting the body work just below it. I doesn't really take alot, there are specific tools for this, however workarounds include sockets, bit nuts, even larger bolts laid sideways, or my recent find is to use a couple of those ratcheting wrenches, the ratchet end is so wide it fits well and you can put and hold the front and rear in place while you helper eases and do mean *EASES* the jack down.
Have you replaced a ball joint? If so then you are over 50% of the way qualified. let me know so I only write what is needed?
