I like both our Comm Eds. They came from the factory with 185hp, a little more than an SPG. The '93 Comm Ed coupe, aslo had the SPG suspension. To be perfectly honest, other than the limited-production designation of Comm Ed, and a better tune, and the few unique extra appearance bits, they are the same as any Saab 900 Turbo. You can even tune a standard 900T to match the CE specs--or better. Both our CEs are actually now in the 230hp range (modest estimate). My 1992 900T has all the Comm Ed tuning bits under it's hood as well. Taken from my now-deceased first Comm Ed.
That being said, I think it's worth it if you like the idea of driving (and caring for) a limited- production car. If you put a Comm Ed and another Saab of the same vintage side-by-side, inevitably people will gravitate to the Comm Ed because they recognize it as a unique car. It's the same with any car though really. I'm sure that if you put an equally-equipped Corvette next to a Comm Ed Corvette you'd experience the same thing. Or a Shelby GT 500 next to an equally-equipped Mustang. It's just a car culture thing I guess. Saab marketed them as unique, so most enthusiasts feel that way too. I like the idea of owning one of the last-built of what many of us consider a true Saab--the classic 900.
