Uggg I just got my '85 SPG up and running, I bought this car non-running unknown on everything but on the previous owner had said, and as everybody knows about that! lol But it needed a engine so I found one and put it in and took a chance and coupled it to the 5spd that was a rebuild (had a tag from some place) since the fluid was clean with no smell or sparkles, well I get the car on the road and the syncros is bad in 1st and 3rd and 5th was there and the sparkles showed up :(. Well last week i stopped at some rail road tracks and put it in 5th on accident and it got stuck in 5th...well there was a train coming so I pulled it out of gear a little hard...the fork might be bent. but this morning I re adjusted the shifter and I didn't move it very much at all...pretty much just a fine tuning. But I went out to my dads this morning and I went to put it in 5th and it ground in and I felt it go in and slide out of gear shifting up into 5th the gear felt like it was there for about a half of an inch till it fell out on the other side...If this makes sence...I have my 5 speed trans out of my 83 that has a cracked case. but third and fifth is..err was still there.
So does any one have a clue what is going on in that trans?....and another option is my work has 5 speeds out of a 85 spg a 86, 87 and a 90 non turbo...what is the better trans or what code do I need to search for?
