Hello,
I have been bedeviled by a leaking coolant tank. It's like the cap isn't tight enough. I threw out my old original. It had deteriorated lower on the body and had allowed boiling hot water to eat through my ABS harness (thanks previous owner!)

I bought a new tank and cap from eeuroparts. It's the aftermarket one. It appeared to be leaking at the cap. I again bought a new cap with no luck. Still does the same thing. I was thinking that it was just a bad cap.

You cannot tighten the cap down much, or it notches back to a lower torque. I'd guess it's a way to ensure you don't get too enthusiastic with the coolant tank. I talked to the local Saab mechanic. He said that he hated the tanks for that reason.

Does anyone have a solution?

There is no head gasket leak. Compression is good, no mixing of oil or water in either location. I've recently replaced all hoses, thermostats and sensors related to cooling system (it's a rolling renovation.)
