I'm in the Twin Cities. When my windshield in my '87 was cracked, I checked around at some of the various shops in town and found they were all about the same price (about $250.00) and skill level. Try finding a shop (Harmon) where there are still some "old timers" around and have them do it.
I ended up replacing my windshield myself. A used windshield is about $25.00 and I figured I could break a lot of used ones before I got to the amount I'd have to pay to have a shop do it for me. The trick is finding a good used one...it can have no chips or flaws or it will break. The other good thing is you don't have to use adhesive or black goo....it's strictly a gasket fit.
The first one I fitted had a flaw in the top passenger corner which I didn't notice until I was just pushing it in and of course it cracked. The next one was perfect and I installed it without a problem.
