This may be a silly question but we're really just beginners when it comes to DIY jobs. How does the engine operate when the pressure regulator is unplugged. Will the engine still run normally? I unplugged the pressure regulator for the turbo and the engine operated exactly the same. Does this mean this is the problem or does it mean nothing. Plugs are new as of 10 months ago, distributor rotor and cap look fine. I had some ignition troubles in my 86 a few months ago but this problem is different. You can still drive the car around town and the engine isn't running rough or anything.
It is just a general lack of performance. Acceleration is like that of a truck and you can forget having four people in the car if you want to get anywhere. Car doesn't stall and can still be driven up to highway speeds. The only real reason to muck about with it is that it would be nice to have the car performing like a Saab turbo should.
I'll check the pipe connectors next and we were wondering if perhaps the wastegate could be causing this problem. Thanks for help guys I appreciate it.
