did this on a 4 door about 4 years ago - makes a big difference in interior sound too. push both front seats forward, rotate seat backs so they lean against dash/steering wheel

shell will come out through trunk - do NOT remove shelf or rear window.

Note: consider padding areas on roof interior to dampen vibration - behind sun roof on sun roof section. consider also thoroughly going over fuel lines and drain pipes while shell is out.

shell's weakest point is at or just nehind front grab handles - while removed reinforce with fibreglass or strong glue to give some rigidity

only fabric glue to use is the high temp 3M stuff (90?)

removing all old glue and liner is not difficult but don't overdo it - you will destroy the cardboard.

also remember enough fabric to cover two quarter panels at the back

rear shelf may also need makeover and this is a good time to do it.

note that A pillars are "hollow" and a source of much noise

I thought about putting expanding foam down these to lessen noise levels but was concerned about flammability
