I hope you're right. A clutch would be a whole lot cheaper than a tranny.
The last time the clutch went (about 60K ago), I could still drive it, just hard to get in/out of gear or get it to engage.
I did have it in the shop about a year ago to have the clutch slave and hose replaced. They said the clutch looked like it was due for a swap.
In this case, what ever happened, happened while it was in gear. The car just came to a rapid halt and the engine stalled. I could get it in all 5 gears but no go/stall when I let out on the clutch.
