Having a newer car may *not* indicate the age of the transmission. Also, whether our not you have a dipstick on the exhaust side may also *not* indicate the age of the transmission, at least any of these indicators my give inaccurate information. Even the rear plate with the shift shaft coupler alignment items may *also* be an inaccurate indicator of the age or vintage of the transmission.
Why? Because if the transmission has been repaired or replaced, or if your car (check the VIN) used to be an automatic and was *converted*, the rebuilt transmission may have a hodge podge of items put together to make it a rebuild and whole one. I just went through this, again, with a CRS rebuild that came from a 1993 car, but was in no way a 1993 transmission. All of the usual suspects that you would check... pointed in different directions... So, do your checking for yourself to confirm what you actually have. It may be a perfect profile of year/model transmission, or not...
Oh, and that drain plug, if it exists, is a 3/8" squared hole, use a breaker bar and slip a deep reachsocket over the handle and the put a 12" or longer extension onto that to make a long handle... off it comes...
