the one thing to look at is the undercarriage, lay on the ground by the driver door, with the door closed look under the car.
this is how you should rate the car, tons of rust the car is a parts car, little to no rust its a mint.
far as how hard its to work on, its much like every 900 void the turbo problems. don't know what u went through with the ng900 but the car is essentially the same just chop the top
as far as 120,000 miles it says good chances there is very little rust
but then it could of lived next to a salt factory most of its life constant runs to Seattle.
having the odometer fail could be foul play but i dought it, it is common to have them fail the rust will show its true age.
driving down the road with it keep the radio off windows up and listen
1st gear, 2ed gear, go through 3rd rpms slow then 4th and 5th keep the car at 55mph all the while listening for a quiet whisele or a distinct whistle at 55 where the whistle would be constant. it would indicate pinion bearing.
check the fluids, pull the dipstick to the trans you should see clean oil.
if its dark black it would be an indication of possible additives added, as in, to prolong the life of the pinion bearing (additives that would keep the bearing quiet until the car can get sold)
same goes for the motor oil, before and after the test drive check these.
if their both black before the drive no need to look after the drive, the motor oil will show how well the motor was taken care of.

anyone can change the oil before the car is sold to make it look clean.
but after a 10 mile test drive the sludge will mix with the clean oil turning it light brown.
a well cared for motor the clean oil will stay pristine clean for 1500 miles after an oil change.
on the test drive pull off in a parking lot pop the hood with the motor idling and just stand by the running motor, watch the fans cycle on and off after 3 to 4 min take notice of any knocking ticking hissing anything out of the ordinary.
but lets face it, little to no rust everything else can be fixed.
