when you say flood out, did you pull the plugs and they were wet or?
have you changed the COIL? Make sure the coil wire is pushed in solid on both ends.
what FPR value are you using? if you pull the vacuum line off the FPR what happens?
At this point I'd say that the Hall Effect sensor may be at fault. Is the connector on the side broken and then either glued or zip tied on?
When you swapped the dist cap, did you look inside at the connectors and see the three colored wires coming off, do they duck down underneath a plastic cover, as in you can tell they are not cut? when you swapped the dist cap did you follow the Bentley for plug wire order or did you do one connector at a time from cap to cap? The Bentley is incorrect in order.
There are two connectors that are interchangable in size, but NOT function. One goes to the distributor and the other to the idle switch on the TB. This last one is in the same bundle that the fuel injectors are on, but sometimes that cable is long enough to reach the distributor. make sure that you are on the correct connectors.
when it gets to the "flooded out" phase try my fav, carborator cleaner sprayed into the intake plenum (silver thing that the oil dipstick mounts to) via a vacuum line, remove the line, use the plastic straw to inject carb cleaner to a count of five or so, replace the vac line) and crank. if it fires and coughs, do it again to a count of 10, if it runs again and longer you may not be getting fuel at all. remember that the pumps are DC volts, if you wired them backwards... then they suck rather than push. hey we've all done goofy stuff, it could be that one or both of the pumps are running backwards. Did you crack the fuel rail (I like the forward fitting, a 19mm on the rail and a 17mm box on the banjo bolt) and get a nice spray of fuel?
