Interesting - I pulled the dash from my base model 86 and could find no evidence of wiring for the power mirrors so I had to fabricate the entire wiring loom assembly from small joysticks to connections that run to the four way connectors in the inner fender on each side. Bentley was of immense help.
I used the old wiring loom from the 84 that runs from mirror to inner fender (its a four way connector). Each joystick has four wires (one for ground, one for power and two to the servo if I recall correctly).
You are looking at finding two decent ground points and then simply routing remaining wiring through the front of the dash. Power was taken from a switched supply at 152b.
You can do all this with just the knee bolster removed. You will see entry points to the cabin from the engine bay for wiring once the front of the carpet is pulled and the bolster removed.
Oddly enough the door locks did have the loom underneath the carpet so it was just a matter of making the right connections (and then snaking up through the middle column for the rear windows).
The power windows are are also prewired - or at least they were on mine. So it was simply a matter of adding the swich pack and making the connections in the engine bay.
You can begin by checking which connectors are present in the inner fender sections - You should have a four way connector for the mirror and two, two spade connectors for the window and front locks respectively - IFF everything is prewired.
BTW for the mirrors- it was easier to simply move the dash over with the two joysticks to the 86 than it was to remove and then insert them into the push outs in the dash. You might ask why I didn't take the wiring with it as well. Because I could't pull it out intact - the original goes way back into the rear of the dash. So I just added some new wiring.
Hope this make sense.
