Oh, but what a joy. Either there is something in our blood or something in our local water system that makes us think that we love these machines. My '87 900Turbo has 406,000 miles (bought it 15 years ago!) and is ALMOST still my daily driver----but, preventive maintenance is the key & with a Bentley Manual & access to an indy Saab mechanic for MAJOR repairs (I'm in a large southern metropolis), you can keep these things running virtually forever (just consider what you ARE saving by way of reduced auto premiums & car tags/taxes.........even with the periodic repair/parts bills). Most of us hate the thought of the monthly payments that are necessary to posess a "new" car, anyway. Plus, we get to drive a car that is actually fun TO drive, is comfortable, and SAFE (ever seen one that was in a MAJOR crash & ALL that was left intact was the interior? Yep.).
But, like most others on this board, we tend to acquire "multiple" Saabs. I, too, am guilty (have a 2nd 900S "daily driver" with only 173,000 miles), but that is partially because I like to tinker with them & therefore firmly beleive that I'll never get rid of either of these true classics (unfortunately, we won't be seeing these types of great automobiles EVER produced again.......), so, I guess I'm "content". Plus, I have a 3rd vehicle------a '98 Ford F150 that I can use to tow the other two with if necessary........
Keep on maintaining/driving the Saab!
