yup never fails, keeping the car waiting = pissing the car off
do a full tune up,
you car had idle hunting/or seeking
when staring the car the amm was in control and had the idle at around 1000, sorta like a default rpm range, after a good 6 min. the car warmed and the oxy sensor to over control and tried to drop the cars idle speed
the car was probably idling at a nice rpm for a bit, but the low rpm caused the spark plugs to cool and the distributor rotor to cool also.
with a little chariness on the rotor or plugs it would cause a miss, dropping the idle to 500rpm the computer would try to rebound sending the idle to 1100 then the oxy would say,,.. wait wait, im in control im taking the idle down to 800 with this fighting of control of who has the idle,.. well under control, this could have lasted for a good 2 minutes
im suspecting once the idle was on its downward slope going to 800 -750 rpm the motor had a miss fire sending the idle to 400,
or one of your plugs, or fuel injectors stopped firing all together and it was running on 3 cylinders. get that electric cleaner in a can from your auto parts store and unclip the wires to the fuel injectors and spray the contact points.
