They can pop apart and blow your window wash out down all over the motor, none will come out the nozzles.
Only one needs to be bad, since if it's leaking there's no pressure for either side.
You can pull the hose off, and there's just enough slack to bypass them completely, and attach feed hose straight to underside of nozzles, if that's your problem.
The window wash function will then work fine, but will take a second or two pumping for fluid to reach the glass. Check valves keep it from draining back down between sprays.
