I did as follows:
I took out the old clutch, I look used but OK.
I put the spacer between the pressure plate and the fingers (I jacked it up under a trailer until the fingers bented and put in the spacer).
I cleaned the cylinder and put in new seals. Cylinder was undamaged.
I put the (new) pressure plate on the pins (together with cylinder and plate).
I fitted the axle again with plactic screw, put the cover and clip back.
The cylinder I had unhooked to clean it and put in new seals. The pedal feels as it did before, pretty firm. It did not mount the big plastic clutch cover so I could see that by pushing the clutch, the bearing got pushed about half an inch to the fingers. The spacer I could (almost) take out without pushing the pedal. Did I miss anything??
