My Saab bankruptcy changes. If I were owner/CEO... Posted by gfreshski1 [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Bankruptcy, ragtop, Fri, 20 Feb 2009 09:46:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Okay, so I've had fantasies of owning Saab, taking over, calling the shots. What would I do?
The first thing I would do is take the surviving design team of the Saab 900 and 9000, and team them up with a Japanese all star team of engineers and designers. They're available, in this economy, everybody's available.
Next, I would find out what final design ideas never happened back in the 80's to the 900 and 900 and why.
Then, I would order an immediate update of the C900 and 9000. It would be based on the 1994 C900 and 1997 9000. The GM years would not be included IN ANY decision making.
I would demand a 5 door hatchback C900, and a wagon version of the 9000 with AWD. I would make a deal to outsource turbodiesels from VW as an optional engine, with upgraded rubber elements for biodiesel capabilities.
I want the gas engine performance to be based on a Tesla type model. I want hybrid technology with a goal of 50mpg and a 0-60 of under 6 seconds.
I'd demand to take the 16v C900 engine and make it a twin turbo. I'd demand velour seats as an option, with red, green, blue, grey and black as the color choices.
The center ignition switch stays, but can be a push button.
The Saab design and engineering was so far ahead of its time, the 80's and 90's cars are still great.
