Plugging or pinching the hose to the AIC doesn't always kill the engine. Wish you had another AIC to try. They do get old and sometime idle high. Grommets popping out can be resolved by, cleaning the area with acetone and using 5 min epoxy around the grommets. I do this to all the vacuum hoses. It would be nice if you could wire a variable resistor to the signal for the AIC, at the AIC plug to dampen the regulating vane. Just a thought!
