I'm pretty sure that the C900 only ever got one type of ABS from the factory. 9000s got at least two, and I won't speculate on the NG900.
ABS was only on the C900 from MY 90 (and some late 89s), changing it would have cost too much money.
BTW - ALL ABS systems have some sort of electrical pump in them. They have to, in order to restore system pressure after they release the pressure to stop a tire from sliding. Some may be more reliable than others, but remember, the newest C900 ABS system is now 16 years old, so problems are to be expected.
My 1990 900 has over 300,000 miles, and the original ABS is A-OK at almost 19 years old (knocking on wood...).
