If this is a preventive measure then I would say not difficult and well worth it. I used Doug M's documentary as the guide.
The most difficult part is removing the caliper being sure to use a 1/2 inch drive and lots of leverage with PB Blaster used well in advance.
Once the caliper is off inspect the pistons carefully. They will be the deal breaker. If they are not salvageable - pitted and rusting that cannot be removed - then your rebuild will likely not hold up. I found this out the hard way after doing a rebuild on really badly seized calipers. So if you are doing a rebuild on a bad set of calipers that no longer work properly the 40 or so dollars spent on the rebuild kit might be better spent on rebuilt calipers that are about 2 to 3 times the price.
