* the Townsend fix for reverse works just great... http://townsendimports.com/Web/transmission_folder/reverse_gear_mod.htm
* try looking at the three screws at the base of the shifter, make sure they are tight
* look at the linkage between the transmission and shifter between firewall and tranny, see if the pin or the linkage is loose.
* see if your shifter mechanism is loose or sloppy, replace as needed
* put the shifter in 3rd and use a small pin type tool like an ice pic to see if your linkage is connected properly while aligning it with the marker forward of the shifter. Bently does a good job of describing the process. adjust as necessary
* make sure your clutch is working properly. pump the pedal a few times and see if that helps, if so, there is a air in the line clutch issue
* Keep the faith! best wishes from wintry Minnesota!
