Finally found that water leak into the the cabin

I posted a message a few weeks back about wet front passenger-side carpet during the rainy season. Got some good ideas about the heater boot, plugged drains, leaky door seals, lower dashboard bolts, etc. but it was none of those. I've had the trim strip that holds the carpet on the sides off for a while so I could easily lift the carpet to dry it. During some intensive testing of the problem with the hose down the fender well in front of the door, I noticed water dripping in the screw holes for the trim strip. I sealed those with some electical conduit goop and have sprayed gallons of water from every angle into every crevice and have not since gotten a drop.
I then pulled the carpet on the driver's side and sure enough, I had a wet pan. I hadn't noticed this because I've covered the top surface of the carpet pad with plumber's plastic tape as it was getting kind of thread-bare. This is waterproof so it kept the water on the pan from weeping through. I pulled the pad, dried out the carpet, sealed the screw holes and sprayed water like crazy. Not a drop.
The moral of the story is to be sure to seal any screws that penetrate the cabin because a little drip can add up to a lot of water when it collects in the floor pans.
