Help?
Is there anyone out there, or at the Saab Factory or in the IDS system of folks that
could tell me how to find out information on the two different cars
below? I bought both new from IDS when I was stationed overseas. I'm
still active US military, and still own the 1991 vehicle.
1988 Saab 900S 2.0 16V 5Sp "Chesterfield" Edition (sold to NATO/US
Military in the UK) Bought 1989 at Picadilly Saab, London through IDS
Normal 900S, but with whale tail spoiler, sunroof w wind deflector, and
aero rims.
1991 Saab 900S 2.1 16V 5Sp "Jetpack" Edition (sold to NATO/US Military
in Germany) Bought 1992 at Bitburg Air Base, Germany, Capitol (or
Lloyd?) Motors through IDS
Normal 900S, but with full Airflow ground effects kit (non-turbo)whale tail spoiler, wind deflector and nice inside package w starburst rims.
I'm trying to find out why my VIN # isn't able to be found in any of the
online literature.
VIN YS3AK35E3M5004288
I was told at purchase that both models were factory-built package cars
that had OEM special packages, and I'm trying to find out how many of
each/either version were made for the military market.
Specifically,
-- Can you tell me if these "Editions" were factory built with the
accessories, or were they added on to by the dealers?
-- How many 1988 "Chesterfield" or 1991 "Jetpack" editions were built?
-- Any information on these military/diplomat sales editions, such as
brochures, flyers, or handouts from those time frames would be
appreciated...
Is there anyone who keeps those records?...ie, the
military-market-specific packages that were sold through IDS?
Thanks for any help.
