I started with an old Husco armtrest/cup-holder that I pulled from a junker years ago.

The bracket was for an older-style console (and was big and ugly), so I improvised a new simpler, cleaner mount for it. The pad was rubber "simulated leather" so it had to go too.
I salvaged a few parts from the Husco unit to use. The slide-out cup-holder and the upper mounting plate:

Then I made a few parts...
A 1" square pillar with tennons to attach the unit to the lower console,

A bracket to mount underneath the console to stiffen it and give it strength (epoxied in).

And a new pad base to accept the leather pad and cup-holder.

Then I carefully cut mortices in the old upper mounting bracket and the console to accept the tennons on the new post.

I put the parts together and ran a screw down the center to hold it all tightly together.

I used some leather and foam from an old c900 rear armrest to make the new pad, and mounted the cup-holder to it.

It's real sturdy. The armrest slides backwards on the mount to get it out of the way instead of flipping up. That's the way the Husco unit worked, so I didn't try reinventing the wheel. The cup-holder slides in and out from beneath the pad.
