no not at all. pressure plate engaged pressing on the clutch, with clutch disk pressing on flywheel.
you would need the tool designed to force the release bearing into the pressure plate to put the ring in.
do a search for three fat nuts on alternative ways to put the ring in, but another said you should be able to split it apart without taking the clutch out. I have not personally done that. but it does seem possible.
