I'd second this...
Turbos are certainly great, but I immensely enjoyed my non-turbo car. It wasn't fast, but with good brakes and suspension and some work on weight reduction it was an absolute blast to drive. I found myself driving my 125hp '86 twice as much as my 240+hp '90.
There is something to be said for a car which you can push to 100% all the time and still have time to think and react. It really lets you learn about driving without having to worry so much about running out of road.
Were I you - I'd put that turbo money into some good suspension, maybe some better brakes, and some good rubber. Give it some time and learn the car. When it's got nothing more to give, throw that turbo engine in there and watch all your previous upgrades really shine, in a car you're already pretty familiar with.
